Man’s Search for Meaning — Viktor Frankl

Man’s Search for Meaning is one of the best books I have come across last year. Glad to consider my favorite one as well. Although, couldnot help but admitting, most of its thought-provoking stuff flew ahead over my brain. However, as far as I get it, here I am putting some words all over that, and maybe the writers’ perspective(s).

Man’s Search for Meaning is such a thought-provoking book by Viktor Frankl. Professionally, Frankl was a psychologist. And during World War II, he was holocaust survivor; here comes the context of that book.

Here, in the book, he shared his experiences of his time in the concentration camps during the World War II, and the lessons he learned about human capacity to find meaning in even the most difficult circumstances they are ever going through.

The most fascinating thing could be the the concept of logotherapy, I find so, which was developed during his time in the camp.

What does that mean?

Logotherapy is a kind of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals find meaning in their lives, rather than addressing their symptoms or problems.

You could say, kind of a “delulu is the solulu” sort of things, but in a more serious and deeper context.

Frankl believed that the search for meaning is the primary motivating force in human beings, and it is essential for mental health, and well-being.

Through the stories of his own, and fellow survivor’s experiences, Frankl illustrates the transformative power of meaning and purpose. He shows, how prisoners in the camps were able to find meaning in their suffering by holding on to the hope of being reunited with loved ones, working to help others, and finding ways to resist the dehumanizing effects of their captors.

One of the most poignant and memorable passages I found in the book was when Frankl described about the last stage of the prisoners journey, in which they were no longer able to hold on to any hope of rescue or survival.

Overall, Man’s Search for Meaning is a deeply moving and thought-provoking book that offers valuable insights into the human condition and the importance of meaning and purpose in our lives. It is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the power of the human spirit and the transformative power of meaning.

As I said earlier, I’d highly recommend everyone to read the book if you’re interested to understand the power of the human spirit and the transformative power of meaning. Perhaps, I will try read this again, when I will grow up and get older.
